MSU Vocalists Hit High Note at State Competition

Morehead State University vocalists traveled to Bellarmine University in Louisville, Oct. 12-13, for the Student Auditions for the Kentucky Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).

Jackson Hurt, Richmond, finished second in Underclass Music Theatre - Men, while Janessa Broadhurst, Louisville, brought home third place in the category Junior Women.

“This event is highly competitive” stated Dr. Roma Prindle, MSU associate professor of voice. “I am very proud of how all of our students represented themselves and Morehead State.”

Seven MSU students from the voice studios of Dr. Eric Brown, visiting instructor of voice, and Prindle made the trip to Bellarmine University. They were accompanied by MSU Instructor of Music and Pianist William Murphy. In addition to Hurt and Broadhurst, five other students also competed:  Noah Bruce, Louisville (Semi-Finalist, Sophomore Men;) Aarika Castle, Taylorsville (Semi-Finalist, Sophomore Women;) Noah Colley, Portsmouth, Ohio, (Semi-Finalist, Advanced Men;) Bailey Hobbs, Shepherdsville (Underclass Music Theatre – Women;) and Jasmine Wheeler, Morehead (Advanced Women).

“The success of our students at this event speaks highly of not only their talent, but also of their hard work and dedication,” added Brown.
