Students and faculty tune up for MSU’s Music Faculty Artists Series

Morehead State University’s music programs have an esteemed reputation thanks to its world-renowned alumni and the faculty that help produce them. Once again, both music students and community music enthusiasts from around our region and the state will be treated to unique and developing talent and the abilities of experienced MSU music instructors with the annual Music Faculty Artist Series.

The Music Faculty Artist Series is a chamber music series that involves collaborations across the School of Creative Arts. This year, it includes Greg Carlisle, associate professor of theatre, and Natasha Davis, associate professor of dance, as well as incorporating artwork for “Aesop’s Fables” to creating a full multimedia presentation for these concerts. In addition, several works will involve literature, history and newly authored works put to music.

The series kicks off its first of four concerts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Duncan Recital Hall. Additional concerts will follow in October 2018, as well as January and April 2019. MSU’s Faculty Artist Series concert in April will be submitted to the International Trombone Association and the International Clarinet Association’s ClarinetFest for summer 2019, bringing more international attention to Morehead State University’s School of Creative Arts.
