MSU’s new advisors, retention specialists each have a heart for student success

One of the many reasons Morehead State University consistently ranks as one of the top regional public universities in the South is its commitment to student success. MSU’s newest hires in advising and retention will exemplify this dedication as they use their skills and experience to help students realize their full potential.

Hunter Chandler (17) is a two-time graduate from MSU, with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in 2017 and a Master of Arts in Adult and Higher Education in 2019. Chandler initially was hired by MSU as coordinator for the Success Academy and a part-time adjunct faculty member for mathematics. In his new role, he will serve as the coordinator for the University’s tutoring services. In this position, Chandler will manage the Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC), which provides free tutoring services and academic assistance outside the classroom to all MSU students. He will also teach two sections of First Year Seminar (FYS), a course that helps first-year students successfully transition into college life.

“I am happy to lead a team of paraprofessional student staff that understand the importance of a successful student body,” Chandler said.
