Homecoming Court

The Office of Student Activities is accepting applications for the 2019 Homecoming Queen and King candidates. The 2019 Homecoming Queen and King will represent Morehead State University for the 2019-20 academic year and should exemplify the qualities of leadership, school spirit, integrity, and involvement. A court of five representatives for each title will be selected from an interview process by a committee that will include MSU faculty, staff and student. The student body will choose the Queen and King by an online voting process on Oct. 14 and 15, 2019. The 2019 Queen and King will be announced at the half time ceremony of the Homecoming Game on Oct. 19.


All candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a full time undergraduate student.
  • Completed at least 30 MSU credit hours by the beginning of the 2019 fall semester.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75.
  • Not currently on academic probation and is in good standing with the University.
  • Must be sponsored by a student organization that is registered with Student Activities for the 2019-20 academic year (each student organization may sponsor ONE candidate for each position only).
  • Submit applications by Monday, Sept. 23 at 4:30 p.m. to the Student Activities Office located in ADUC 217 (incomplete applications will not be accepted and will not move forward to the interview process).

There is no entry fee for candidate nominations.


Each candidate may campaign during the period of Oct. 1 through the end of voting on Oct. 15 and are required to adhere to the following regulations:
  • Each candidate may only spend up to $500 to campaign for their position (candidates will be required to submit receipts to verify no more than $500 has been spent on the campaign).
  • Candidates may hang one banner no larger than 4 feet by 6 feet on the lower railing on the sidewalk in front of Allie Young Hall for the duration of the campaign period.
  • Candidates are responsible for submitting a reservation on the Rendezvous system to reserve space on campus to campaign no more than two times during the campaign period.
  • Candidates may use social media to campaign only during the campaign period


Homecoming court members are required to complete the following obligations:
  • Attend photo session at Communications and Marketing on Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
  • Attend the Homecoming Pep Rally on Oct. 17.
  • Attend the Alumni Hall of Fame Banquet on Oct. 18.
  • Participate in the Homecoming Parade on Oct. 19.
  • Attend a practice session for the half time activities on Oct. 19 at 4 p.m.
  • Attend the Homecoming Football Game on Oct. 19 and participate in the half time activities.


Homecoming Court interviews will take place during the week of Sept. 23-26. Candidates will sign up for an interview day and time at the time the application is submitted in the Student Activities office. The interview committee will use a rubric during the interview process to determine the candidates that will be named as the 2019 Homecoming Court. The court will consist of five candidates for each position Queen and King and the voting on Oct. 14-15 will be between those ten candidates. The 2019 Homecoming Court will be named on Sept. 27 and all candidates will be notified of the interview results on that day.
