Professional Development

We offer many professional development opportunities to MSU faculty and staff throughout the year. Below are just a few of the technologies for which we offer PD sessions.

Blackboard™ 9.1, Grade center™ & Collaborate™

Blackboard is the technology solution MSU uses for online classes, discussion boards, grading and more. Our Introduction to Blackboard 9.1 professional development session will ensure that you have a better understanding of this technology so that you may better utilize it in your classes. Request a session.

i>Clicker® is an audience response system that allows students to instantly provide feedback and answer questions posed by their instructors. Request a session.

Lockdown Browser

A custom internet browser that can be used to proctor online exams and lock down the testing environment in Blackboard. Request a session.

Quality Matters™

This session is the first step in becoming a reviewer of courses for the Quality Matters™ recognition of online and hybrid courses. It is also one of three requirements for MSU’s pilot program of Online Teaching Certification. This session may also be of interest as a "behind the scenes" look for those who wish to have their course(s) reviewed by QM. In the seminars you will learn the underlying principles of Quality Matters™, how to use the QM Rubric and the scoring system, and practice applying the rubric to an online course. Because this is for national certification, you must attend the entire, two-part workshop if you are interested in becoming a Peer Reviewer. We are not able to "excuse" partial absences. In the near future, this professional development opportunity will be available in a four-week online format.

Respondus® 4.0

Respondus® is a powerful tool for creating and managing exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to Blackboard. Request a session.

SMART Board™ is an interactive whiteboard that turns your computer and data projector into a powerful tool for teaching and presenting.  Request a session.
