MSU has been recognized as a
farm-to-campus university since 2013. Aramark offers many seasonal selections with local and sustainable products when available. Our dining services offer vegetarian and vegan-friendly menus. Aramark provides wellness resources for health eating inside the dining areas and online. Some of their recent sustainability accomplishments include:
- The construction of two new campus dining facilities to help increase energy-efficiency, reduce waste, and provide students with more health eating choices
- Aramark utilizes reusable or recyclable to-go containers where possible.
- MSU is incorporating compost grinders in the new dining halls to reduce the amount of food waste that goes to the landfill, while providing nutrient-rich compost material for campus grounds.
- Aramark partners with the MSU farm to purchase fresh water shrimp, beef, pork, herbs, vegetables, flowers for events, honey, apples and cider from the MSU Browning Orchard.
- Aramark helps MSU buy local by utilizing Kentucky Proud products.
- Vending machines are equipped with VendingMiser technology to improve energy efficiency.
