Political Science (Government)
The Political Science program at Morehead State gives students the opportunity to study American politics, public law, political theory, international relations, and comparative politics. Students of political science gain analytical and critical thinking skills, as a well as a deep understanding of the American political process. They can work with faculty members on a range of research projects and have access to internship and study abroad opportunities.

Students who wish to work in high-level managerial careers in public service may continue to pursue a master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA). Morehead State offers undergraduate students the ability to begin working on their MPA during their senior year through the Early Graduate School program.

A degree in political science prepares students for careers in law and government, as well as many other fields of work. Students leave the political science program better writers, speakers, readers, thinkers, and researchers, which are skills that employers value. Graduates of the political science program at Morehead State have gone on to work as judges, attorneys, public policy analysts, and campaign managers. Our law school placements have included the University of Cincinnati, the University of Louisville, the University of Kentucky, and the University of California at Davis, and our graduate school placements have included admissions to the Ph.D. programs in political science at the University of Virginia, the University of Michigan, and the University of Texas.
