Literary Submission Form & Guidelines

  • Poetry: Up to 5 single-spaced pieces, not exceeding 5 pages altogether
  • Prose (Fiction or Nonfiction): Up to 3 single-spaced pieces, not exceeding 10 pages altogether

In addition to completing the form below, you must attach a cover letter with author's name, a brief bio, return address, titles and identification of pieces as poetry, fiction or non-fiction. You will be able to attach your cover letter and submission pieces to the online form.

  • No names or identifying material should appear in or on the submissions.
  • Submissions without a cover letter and complete information will not be accepted.

Prizes and Deadline

All submissions are due by Friday, Jan. 21, 2022. First place prizes of $100 are awarded to each of the following three categories: poetry, fiction and creative non-fiction. Only submissions submitted by MSU Students will be eligible for Inscape prizes, however any individual is eligible to submit their work for Inscape publishing.

What to Include in Your Bio

  • Any awards you have won for your artwork or recent publications
  • Your major at MSU if you are a student
  • A brief description of your current artistic/writing projects

Jane Smith is a native of Juneau, Alaska. She is an English major with a minor in Creative Writing at Morehead State University. Her work has been published in Inscape and Aurora literary journals. Smith is currently working on short stories and a cycle of poems. She was recently recognized by Morehead State University with the Outstanding Undergraduate in Creative Writing award.

By submitting an entry to Inscape, you are granting Morehead State University permission to publish your work in the journal, on our website and in Inscape and/or Department of Art & Design and Department of English promotional or publicity materials. Furthermore, it is understood you will not receive any financial compensation for the use of said work in any of the aforementioned scenarios.

In order for your work to be considered for publication, this form must be completed and submitted before Friday, Jan. 21, 2022.​
