Because of a life-long interest in traditional music, and a compulsion to study these musical forms, Nathan Kiser has become well versed on the subject of Traditional Music.
He has performed Old Time music on concert tours across our region and internationally, including performances at Appalshop, Whitesburg, KY, The Paramount Performing Arts Center, Bristol, Tennessee/Virginia and the Tianjin Music Conservatory in China. He is active as a musician, as a presenter and as an organizer of events. This enriches his ability to mentor and coach Traditional Music students and those wishing to increase their activity in this field.
Nathan has maintained personal friendships and professional relationships with people important in Traditional Music including traditional music historian, John Harrod, influential Kentucky musician, Paul David Smith, and commercially successful bassist, J.T. Cure. This first-hand experience gives him unique and invaluable perspective when teaching about Traditional Music.
His list of professional activities includes performances on radio and television including nationally distributed PBS series Song of The Mountains, Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour and Red Barn Radio.
