Profile
Dr. Bernadette Barton is Professor of Sociology and Gender Studies at Morehead State University. She is the author of The Pornification of America: How Raunch Culture is Ruining Our Society (2021), Stripped: More Stories from Exotic Dancers (2017), and Pray the Gay Away: The Extraordinary Lives of Bible Belt Gays (2014). Her research and teaching explore contemporary issues of gender, sexuality, religion, culture, happiness, and the sex industry. Dr. Barton’s new projects examine forms of feminine power, marriage equality mobilization in Kentucky, and the relationship between happiness and transformation.
