Deirdra Robinson graduated from the University of Kentucky, completing her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 1993 and earned a Master of Social Work degree in 1994.  Having grown up in a rural town in Eastern Kentucky, her passion for promoting social justice led her to work in community development.  In 1999, Deirdra accepted an appointment with the University Of Kentucky College Of Social Work as clinical faculty and Administrative Coordinator of the Southeast Kentucky MSW Program. In 2010, Deirdra accepted an instructor position at Morehead State University in the Department of Sociology, Social Work and Criminology.  Her research and community development work focuses on health disparities and rural health issues.

Research Interests: Deirdra’s areas of interest are in: health disparities in rural areas, with a particular interest in chronic disease management; community development and organization and issues related to social justice. She has presented on the national, state, and local levels on topics including: health disparities in rural Appalachia; tobacco policy initiatives; community health coalition development; and cancer prevention and treatment.
