Studio Art

Morehead State offers both a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Studio Art. Both programs provide you with opportunities to learn to apply various media, techniques and technology in the production and presentation of artwork, while learning to make connections between the visual arts and other disciplines.

Why a BFA?

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is considered the most prestigious bachelor's degree one can receive in the visual arts and design. This professionally-oriented, specialized degree prepares you for a career in art and design or for entry into a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) graduate program where you may continue your study in areas such as drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, graphic design, digital art, animation, ceramics and sculpture. You will develop your creative ability, technical competence, aesthetic awareness, and an understanding of the context in which contemporary art is created. You will also study visual art and design in historical, philosophical and cultural contexts.

The BFA in Studio Art prepares you to work creatively and develop your skills and techniques in the production and presentation of artwork. You will also generate and convey ideas through explorations with a variety of media. You are encouraged to work across art disciplines and pursue an interdisciplinary approach.
