Nathan Stites is a piano soloist, chamber musician, and music educator specializing in both solo and collaborative piano performance. Nathan holds degrees in piano performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University (MM), and Indiana University Southeast (BA). He is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Kentucky School of Music where he is completing his dissertation for a DMA in collaborative piano performance. Nathan’s past teachers include, Dr. Jacob Coleman, Luba Edlina Dubinsky, and Andrea Grossman.

Nathan is an active recitalist, frequently performing both solo and collaborative repertoire. As a piano soloist, Nathan has given numerous public performances over the years and has performed an extensive amount of repertoire. Solo performances include public concerts, summer clinic guest recitals, faculty recitals, radio performances, and performing with orchestra as a featured concerto soloist. In the field of collaborative piano, Nathan has performed a vast array of repertoire for vocalists and instrumentalists alike. Having worked professionally as a collaborative pianist since 2008, Nathan has performed with students, music faculty, and guest artists for a variety of recitals, concerts, festivals, and competitions. In addition to his public performances, Nathan has also been active as a recording artist. His most recent recordings are included on the albums Counterpoint: Trombone Chamber Music of Vaclav Nelhybel, and Spirits of Sunset—featuring the original works of composer, Joseph Levin.

Nathan is an experienced music educator with many years of experience teaching a diverse selection of musical concentrations. In the field of piano performance education, Nathan has instructed students at nearly every level, from beginner to graduate student, and has taught both privately, at music camps, and at universities. Nathan was a long-time piano faculty member at the Stephen Collins Foster Music Camps, where he taught middle and high school students in the art of piano performance, and coached master classes. In addition to piano instruction, Nathan is also an experienced teacher of music theory, music history, class piano, and has even instructed music technology classes.

Nathan is currently Instructor of Music, Piano, at Morehead State University, in Morehead Kentucky, where he teaches graduate and undergraduate applied piano lessons, music theory, music history, and class piano.
