Dr. Shannon’s areas of interest are: substance use/abuse, criminal justice system involvement, and treatment-seeking behaviors. She has published in peer-reviewed journals on topics including: substance use/abuse, intimate partner violence, and pregnancy. She is currently the Principal Investigator for multiple evaluation projects examining outcomes associated with participation in community-based substance abuse treatment services (e.g., Drug Court) funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Center for Substance Abuse Treatment. In addition, she is the Principal Investigator for a Bureau of  Justice Assistance (BJA) funded evaluation examining Drug Court implementation and effectiveness statewide.
