Guest Artist

This year's guest artist will be Dr. Elizabeth Crawford, professor of music performance at Ball State University where she teaches clarinet, pedagogy and literature. She has performed recitals and given master classes throughout the world, most notably in Poland, New Zealand and South Africa. An active member of the International Clarinet Association, she served as the organization’s advertising manager from 2016-2018. She has also been an active contributor of the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors.
A proponent of music for E-flat clarinet, Crawford has commissioned solo works for the instrument by Lori Ardovino, Jenni Brandon, Amy Kaplan and Scott McAllister. Her editions of the complete works for E-flat and piano by Giuseppe Cappelli are available from Potenza Music. Of her CD, "Instant Winners" (Albany Records, 2018), David DeBoor Canfield writes, “The hearing of this disc will persuade you that a CD’s worth of music for the smallest member of the clarinet family is indeed well worth an hour of your time….Elizabeth Crawford is a fine artist, playing with impeccable intonation and technique, and possessed of a vivid musical imagination.” (Fanfare, Issue 42:3).
