Dr. LaDonna "Michelle" McClave began her career as an RN in a regional medical center as a float pool nurse in 1995. She worked in a variety of medical/surgical units, before taking a position on the pediatrics unit. In 1997, she moved to the medical center’s home health agency, where she remained for almost ten years. During her time in home health, McClave performed a variety of roles, including staff nurse, quality reviewer, staff development, admissions nurse and nurse manager. In 2005, she began her Master’s education and in 2006, moved back into the medical center as the nurse residency educator, onboarding over 150 new RN graduates in the summer months. She was responsible for their hiring, orientation, clinical internship placement, and supervision during the probationary period.  She also served as a clinical educator to the medical/surgical float pool during this time.

After graduating with her Master’s in 2007, McClave accepted a position as a faculty member at Morehead State.  She has taught BSN, online RN-BSN, nursing elective and general education courses.  In 2015, she graduated with her EdD and also began filling the role of online faculty liaison, assisting faculty with technology and instructional design issues in both face-to-face and online courses. McClave is a quality matters certified peer reviewer. Her passions include online education, quality and safety in nursing education, curriculum and course development and quality improvement in general, in both education and the clinical setting. McClave is the chair of the Department of Nursing Technology Committee, and serves on a variety of committees at the college and university level. McClave assisted in recent revision of the Online RN-BSN Program curriculum and course development, as well as the development of courses for the new Online MSN/FNP Primary Practice Program.  She currently resides in Georgetown, KY, with her husband, teenage son, and boxer.
