Licensures: Dual licensure Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) RN and APRN
Certifications: Board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) by The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

Research Interests: Behavioral Health and Addiction 

Walters is an alumnus of MSU and has served as adjunct faculty for the Department of Nursing since 2010. Walters received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from MSU in 1995, where she was recognized as outstanding baccalaureate student. She went on to complete her Master of Science in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2015. She is licensed as a Nurse Practitioner through the Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) and board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Before coming to MSU she worked at the University of Kentucky for 13 years, where she was recognized as a two time recipient of the Clinical Nurse Excellence Award for her services in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She most recently practiced with St. Claire Family Medicine caring for patients with complex and chronic medical conditions. A Montgomery County native, Walters resides in Mt. Sterling with her husband, Mark, and their three children. Her hobbies include serving within her church as student ministries director and spending time with family, friends, and her dogs.
