Star Theater Public Show for Families

Full dome planetarium feature "Expanded View" plus a live night sky show.

Family shows are designed for families with young children (ages 4 to 10).

About the show: "Expanded View"

Expanded View explores some of the most beautiful deep space objects through the eyes of the Hubble, Spitzer and Chandra Space Telescopes. Each observing platform views the universe through a different part of the electromagnetic spectrum; Hubble in visible light, Spitzer in infrared and Chandra in X-ray. Expanded View focuses on how scientists use these telescopes to enhance our scientific understanding.

The Space Science Center’s Star Theater at Morehead State University is a state-of-the-art digital planetarium serving the surrounding area of Eastern Kentucky. The planetarium offers public shows on second and fourth Saturdays throughout the year on a first-come, first-served basis: reservations do not need to be made in advance. Tickets may be purchased with cash or a check at the door. We cannot take credit cards. Typically, a planetarium show includes a special feature from our extensive program library as well as a tour of the night sky. We offer laser shows Saturdays throughout the year.
