GEMS (Girls in Science, Engineering & Math)
GEMS (Girls in Science, Engineering & Math) is a one-day event allowing participants to rotate through four interactive, hands-on STEAM workshops in a welcoming and encouraging environment.
This year's program is Saturday, October 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. It includes a keynote presentation with Shelley Porter, the director of Engineering at Kentucky American Water, and several workshops across the MSU campus.
It's sponsored by the Center for STEM+eXcellence & Girl Scouts of Kentucky Wilderness Road Council.
The Center for STEM+eXcellence, a program within the Craft Academy for Excellence in Science and Mathematics, offers informal STEM+X education opportunities for Kentucky students in grades K-12. Programs are offered during the summer and throughout the year.
