The Kentucky Folk Art Center will host a celebration for the 90th birthday of local folk artist Minnie Adkins on Saturday, March 9, from 2-4 p.m. at the Morehead Conference Center.

Adkins is known for her unique wood carvings, and her work is displayed at the Smithsonian, the American Folk Art Museum, the National Gallery of Art, and numerous others. Several of her pieces are part of KFAC's permanent collection. She has had numerous exhibits at KFAC, including "From Folk to Fine" and "Against the Grain." An annual art market bearing her name is held in her hometown of Sandy Hook.

To RSVP for the event, contact KFAC Administrative Coordinator Tammy Stone.

The Kentucky Folk Art Center (KFAC) is one of Kentucky's unique places. Located in the historic Union Grocery, the Center offers much more than a typical museum experience. KFAC houses a permanent collection of nearly 1,400 pieces of self-taught art. Dozens of works from the collection are displayed on a rotating basis in the Center's first-floor gallery, and visiting exhibits are hosted throughout the year in the second-floor gallery.
