MSU Operaworks "Trial By Jury"

Music, Theatre and Dance graphic

MSU OperaWorks will present a wacky British comedy to close out the spring semester.

MSU OperaWorks will wrap up the year with a performance of Gilbert and Sullivan’s "Trial By Jury." "Trial By Jury" will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4, in the Duncan Recital Hall of the Baird Music Building. It features an all-student cast directed by Dr. Roma Prindle, professor of music at Morehead State University. The pianist for the production is Angela Lyon. There is no charge for admission, but donations will be accepted. The show is just under an hour in length and is suitable for all ages.

The team of Sir William Schwenck Gilbert and Sir Arthur Seymour Sullivan created several operettas that were all the rage in late 19th century Great Britain. Gilbert and Sullivan were the Saturday Night Live of their day, and their saucy brand of British humor is still relatable today on both sides of the pond.

Members of OperaWorks include: Caleb Akers, freshman vocal performance major from Pikeville; Sarah Brown, freshman theater major from Morehead; Eli Campbell, sophomore music education major from Ashland; Emma Dolen, freshman music education major from Lexington; Jocelyn Goldy, senior music education major from Morehead; Morgan Knight, sophomore business management major from Alexandria; Mason Pack, junior music education major from Louisa; Caleb Pitts, freshman psychology major from Flemingsburg; Logan Smalley, sophomore music education major from Flemingsburg; Kayli Stafford, sophomore music education major from Dry Ridge; and Ashley Vela, freshman music major from Lexington.
