Hands-On Science Activity

Hands-on Science Activities are science workshops for kids focusing on learning about science and making a craft. They are in the rotunda of the Space Science Center.

Activities may include:

  • Making rockets that fly and payloads that survive launch and landing.
  • Making rainbows.
  • Separating ink and dye colors.

Activities are based on science activity workshops for students, parents, and teachers at Goddard Space Flight Center and the World of Science. You will have something you made to take home when you leave.

Children five or under must be accompanied by an adult (included in one ticket).

Fees are payable by cash or check upon arrival; no reservations are required.

The Space Science Center's Star Theater at Morehead State University is a state-of-the-art digital planetarium serving the surrounding area of Eastern Kentucky. The planetarium offers public shows on second and fourth Saturdays throughout the year on a first-come, first-served basis; reservations do not need to be made in advance. Tickets may be purchased with cash or a check at the door. We cannot take credit cards. Typically, a planetarium show includes a special feature from our extensive program library as well as a tour of the night sky. We offer laser shows on Saturdays throughout the year.
