Eagle Essentials

Eagle Essentials logoStudents who don't have adequate food and essential items can't perform as well academically. When students struggle with these issues, Eagle Essentials can help. It provides students with everyday items at no cost, including non-perishable food items, hygiene products and school supplies. It's located in 251 ADUC.

  • Food: macaroni & cheese, ramen noodles, fruit cups, canned food
  • Hygiene Products: toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine products, shampoo, soap
  • School Supplies: pens, pencils, highlighters, notebooks, folders, notecards

Any MSU student with an Eagle Card ID has access to MSU’s Food and toiletry pantry. All items are free of charge, with no questions asked. For your convenience and safety we are announcing new hours of operation and safety procedures for Eagle Essentials access and donations starting Aug. 17th:

  • Monday 11-2 p.m.
  • Tuesday 2-4 p.m.
  • Wednesday 11-2 p.m.
  • Thursday 4:30-5:30 p.m.

MSU students may stop by anytime during hours of operation to pick up food and toiletry items. Please wear your mask.

For your safety an Eagle Essentials attendant will be available during operational hours to supply you with a written list of available items. After you make your selections our attendant will bag up all items for you. All attendants will wear a mask, maintain six feet of social distance and follow cleaning and safety protocols.

If you would like to donate items to Eagle Essentials please do so during hours of operation. Monetary donations and gift cards are accepted as well as non-perishable food and toiletry items. We cannot accept items that are out dated or require laundry service. Payroll deduction is available for all faculty and staff who would like to donate as well.

Financial Resources

SHARE Fund

The Student Hardship Assistance Resource Emergency (SHARE) fund is a new fund that directly supports MSU students during times of financial hardship due to an emergency or life-altering situation. Students can apply to receive limited financial assistance from the SHARE fund for a variety of essential needs that cannot currently be met by the student due to temporary hardship. The amount of funds awarded will vary and will depend on the individual situation of each student. The fund is supported entirely by donations and funds awarded do not have to be repaid.

Typical expenses that may be covered by the SHARE fund include but are not limited to:

  • Medications/prescriptions or costs related to medical care
  • Assistance with rent or utilities due to an emergency situation
  • Safety related needs (i.e. changing a lock on a vehicle or home)
  • Replacement of personal belongings due to a fire or natural disaster

Students may either personally apply to receive support from the SHARE fund, or another student may nominate a fellow Eagle who they know is in need of temporary assistance.

Eagle Emergency Loan Fund

At MSU, our number one priority is helping students. Now there's a new and unique way to change the life of a student and make sure they receive all that MSU has to offer!

The Eagle Emergency Loan Fund is a faculty and staff supported fund that provides short-term, interest free loans to students who are facing financial barriers that interfere with their ability to continue their education at MSU. From transportation costs to family responsibilities to unexpected educational expenses, the Eagle Emergency Loan Fund will show students that we are committed to their educational success.

The Eagle Emergency Loan Fund is currently accepting applications. Contact Jessi Ferguson for more information.

NEST Fund

The NEST Fund (Needs for Students in Trying Times) is a newly established fund created to support students during times of hardship and transition. The NEST fund covers support to three main sources of student aid: Eagle Essentials, the SHARE Fund, and the Eagle Emergency Loan Fund. You can learn more about each of these three components below.
