After a VPN connection is established, MSU computers and network shares can be accessed from remote devices using the Microsoft Remote Desktop application.  Remote Desktop should be setup if your work requires access to your work PC’s hard drive and network drives.  Directions for remote desktop setup can be found here: Remote Desktop Instructions

The process for connecting remotely is:
  1. Ensure you have network connectivity
  2. Establish a VPN connection using Cisco AnyConnect
  3. Establish a Remote Desktop Session from the machine you are currently using to your on-campus computer.  You will need the Computer hostname from your on-campus machine to complete this session.
  4. When finished disconnect the remote desktop session
  5. Disconnect the VPN connection.
On Your MSU Work Mac
  1. Go to System Preferences > Sharing
  2. Be sure that File Sharing, Remote Login, Remote Management are all checked for your account.
  3. Copy and paste the address for your computer (under File Sharing: On). It will be a series of 6 numbers like this: smb://10.xx.x.x. You will need that to connect from home.
  4. This will give you access to all your files/folders and any network share folders from your home device once you install the VPN client at home.
