Frequently Asked Questions
How do we get our MSU ID card?
You may take your EagleCard photo any time this summer, or when you arrive in August. The EagleCard Office is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and is located in ADUC 127.
What is the difference between the magnetic strip and the "SmartCard" on the EagleCard, and are they used differently?
The EagleCard has both a contactless flyBUY chip embedded into the ID and a magnetic strip on the back of the card. Both are used for functions on and off-campus. Most locations are flyBUY only, but some locations can accept both such as Dining Services and the University Store. Some locations are specific to flyBUY, such as residence hall door access, snack vending, and pay-for-print. Other locations utilize the magnetic strip only: Camden-Carroll Library, U.S. Bank, Pepsi Vending and the off-campus BeakerBUCKs Program.
When should we order textbooks?
Course material will be available mid-July. At that time, you can go online and order your books. Books can be shipped directly to you or you can pick them up when you arrive in August. You can also purchase books when you arrive on campus.
Will MSU mail our EagleCard ID cards via USPS?
For security purposes, we do not mail EagleCards. Cards must be picked up in-person. You will be able to pick up your card when you arrive in August.
