Tips for Mental Health Promotion during Coronavirus

The MSU counseling clinic is offering telehealth services to meet the MH needs of students during the coronavirus pandemic. To schedule an appointment with a counselor, call us at 606-783-2055 anytime from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.., Monday through Friday, closed daily for lunch from 12 to 1 p.m. Telehealth services have begun in order to continually support MSU students while maintaining social distancing practices.

Here are some of our recommendations to keep yourself mentally healthy during a stressful time:
  • Unplug from media when experiencing information overload and take a break with less distractions
  • Set a daily routine and stick to it: get outside to walk, hike or eat—we should utilize this time to plan for recreation and to find fun activities to participate in while keeping in line with social distancing precautions
  • Connect with friends, family and others by phone or other means—do not remain isolated from others
  • Try picking up an old hobby or interest you once enjoyed, like learning to play guitar or painting/drawing

Most importantly, please keep in mind that we will return to normal very soon, life will resume and we will get through this together. Your health and wellness matters, so please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
