Dr. Alan Rucker has served the students of Morehead State University since 2012, currently as the Director of Housing and Residence Education. Responsible for the overall management and leadership of a 3,200-bed residential environment, he has championed the institution’s lived values of service, innovation, scholarship, and promotion of diversity of people and thought.

A student affairs professional for nearly 20 years, Rucker has a lengthy track record of administrative leadership for various functional units and differing types of institutions. Immediately before his arrival to Morehead State, he served as a senior staff member of the award-winning Department of Transportation Services at the University of Maryland, College Park. He is highly involved in higher education, maintaining professional memberships in numerous organizations and serving in leadership capacities at the state, regional, and national level.

Alan obtained his doctoral degree in adult and higher education from the Ernst and Sara Lane Volgenau College of Education at Morehead State University and a Master of Business Administration from the Elmer R. Smith College of Business and Technology, also at MSU. He earned both a master’s degree in student affairs administration in higher education and a bachelor’s degree in marketing and promotion from Ball State University. He has received numerous honors and awards, including Ball State University’s Graduate of the Last Decade, the inaugural Kentucky Association of Housing Officers (KAHO) Unbridled Spirit Award, the KAHO Ruth Ann Howard Service Award and is a commissioned Kentucky Colonel, just to name a few.

Alan is originally from Louisville, one of three children, and is a first-generation college student. He was the first in his family to experience the traditional college transition and learned early on the transformative power of mentorship and student-first leadership for the campus and community. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, is a voracious reader and college athletics fan, and continually confirms good boy status to his golden retriever, Lancer.

Casey Quickel, Associate Director

Casey Quickel joined the Office of Student Housing in January 2022 as the Associate Director. Currently, Casey oversees the business operations and client service opportunities. Immediately prior to joining the Eagle family, Casey served as an Assistant Director at the University of Kentucky. Casey has a Bachelor of Arts in Human Communication studies and Political Science from Shippensburg University, and a Master of Education from Salisbury University.

Casey grew up in Ephrata, PA, but has spent the last six years in Kentucky. You can often find her working out, reading, or watching sports. Her favorite past times include hanging with her cats or volunteering at the nearest farm animal sanctuary. She is looking forward to exploring everything Morehead has to offer.

Stephanie C. Pollitt Clark, Assistant Director

Stephanie joined the Office of Student Housing in January 2022 as the Assistant Director. Currently overseeing the residence education philosophy and community development initiatives for the campus, Stephanie is able to put her 15 years of housing experience to good use, including being a former Morehead State Resident Advisor. She is passionate about advising, mentoring, and leading student and professional staff members, while making their experience excellent.

A first-generation student and two-time Morehead State alum from Tollesboro, KY, she holds a Master’s in Public Administration with an emphasis in Community Development & Non-Profit Organizations and Bachelors in Geography & History. Outside of her work life, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her family & friends. Stephanie lives with her spouse Jon and two cats, Jasper & Silas. She is an ardent reader, gamer and loves TV/Film. Stephanie also enjoys crafting, cooking, murder mysteries, and watching anime.

Emily AdamEmily Adam, Area Coordinator

Emily Adam joined the housing team in July 2021. As an Area Coordinator, Emily is responsible for supervising the Alumni Tower and Mignon Tower RA staffs. Prior to coming to MSU, Emily served as an Area Coordinator at Ashland University and a Residential Life Coordinator at Kenyon College. Emily has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Substance Misuse and Addiction from The Ohio State University and a Master of Education from Ashland University.
Emily grew up in Central Ohio, specifically Newark, otherwise known as the Home of the World’s Largest Basket! She is the second of three children and is a first-generation college student. In her free time, Emily loves to cook, make art, travel, play board games and show people pictures of her cat, Cali.

Rachel Michael, Area Coordinator

Rachel Michel is excited to begin her time here at Morehead! She attended Arcadia University in Glenside, PA as an undergraduate and Temple University in Philadelphia, PA for her Master of Education in Higher Education. While getting her Masters, Rachel worked at Cabrini University in Radnor, PA as a Graduate Assistant for the Residence Life office.
Rachel was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV, loves to travel, read, and watch live theater. She is very excited to explore Kentucky and get to know her new home.


Aurora Romick, Area CoordinatorAurora Romick

Aurora Romick joined the Housing team in July 2021. She attended Salem University in Salem, WV as an undergraduate and earned her Bachelor's in Business Administration with a specialization in Sports Recreation and Management. Aurora also attended Salem University to obtain her Master's in Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Higher Education Administration. She has previously worked in Student Life at Salem University.
Aurora grew up outside the New Matamoras area in southeastern Ohio. She loves to read, write, and listen to stand-up comedy, podcasts, and a variety of music. She has grown up around educators all her life with both her parents and several other relatives working in educational fields. Aurora is delighted to explore and experience all Kentucky has to offer.

Katie SmithKatie Smith, Area Coordinator

Katie Smith assumed her Area Coordinator position for the Office of Student Housing in December of 2021. Holding a Bachelor’s in business from the Elmer R. Smith College of Business and Technology at Morehead State, she is a former Resident Advisor and Student Director for the Office of Student Housing. 

Originally from Harlan County, Kentucky and enveloped by the Appalachian Mountains, Katie was influenced by family members and close educators to attend Morehead State University. She thrived at MSU and wants to encourage others to be involved, study and enjoy the full college experience offered on campus. In her free time, you can find Katie sipping a chai latte, walking her dog Little Bit across campus, in line at the ADUC food court, or taking a yoga class offered at the Rec & Wellness Center. Katie lives and shares her favorite quote with everyone: “Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle”.
