The Little Company

The Little Company, a trademark of the Morehead State University Theatre Program, is a touring troupe that performs a play for schools in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, with the main focus being on the service region of Morehead State University.  In addition to the production, The Little Company also conducts workshops targeting the drama core content mandated by the Kentucky Department of Education.

Generously supported by an endowment from the W. Paul and Lucille Caudill Little Foundation, the Caudill College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Department of Music, Theatre and Dance, The Little Company visits up to 100 schools each year, performing for 15,000 to 30,000 students.

While this program serves teachers and K-12 schools in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, it also offers MSU students valuable career experience performing plays intended for young audiences, teaching workshops to K-12 students and working with a touring production.

Ms. Octavia Biggs-Fleck serves as The Little Company Director.  An instructor of theatre in the Department of Music, Theatre and Dance, Octavia is also the Director of The Lexington Children’s Theatre Shooting Stars.  Hailing from the National Shakespeare Conservatory of New York City, Octavia brings to this program a wealth of experience, knowledge and talent. Theatre Major, Morehead, KY "Before coming to MSU I didn't have the slightest idea what I wanted to do with my life. After running wardrobe for two shows here at MSU, I discovered that theatre, specifically costumes, is a passion. I feel extremely lucky to work with such a talented group of individuals, students and faculty alike. Thanks to the MSU Theatre Program, after two semesters and one costume internship, I feel that when I finish my degree I will be fully prepared to go out into the world and work in professional theatre."
