Star Theater
The Space Science Center's Star Theater at Morehead State University is a state-of-the-art digital planetarium serving the surrounding area of Eastern Kentucky. It serves as a classroom and planetarium for the region's educators, MSU students and the public.
In addition to our regular scheduled public shows at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. (laser) on the second and fourth Saturdays, we have several special events planned for this year, including:
Join us at the Planetarium!
The Star Theater is now recruiting new crew members from the MSU student body to support our activities year-round.
The planetarium offers public shows on second and fourth Saturdays at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. throughout the year.
A Star Theater show includes a special feature from our extensive program library and a live tour of the night sky under our full dome. Our shows include full-dome planetarium feature movies on various science topics and laser shows.
As weather permits (the sky is clear and the temperature is warm enough), we offer opportunities to view the night sky with telescopes after dark on our public show on Saturdays. The Star Theater also offers public-domain science fiction movie nights on the last Friday of some months.
The Star Theater is available by reservation for schools, families, and community groups.
