University Post Office
Whether you're expecting a package from home or sending out graduation invitations, the University Post Office can help you with all of your mailing and shipping needs.
The University Post Office (UPO) is located at 100 University Center, between the EagleCard office and the University Store. Our hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Limited hours are observed for Christmas and Thanksgiving break.
CAMPUS MAIL DISTRIBUTION AND PICK-UP GUIDELINES
The University Post Office no longer provides delivery to offices and departments. Offices and departments may pick up mail from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the window. Each office is provided a card with its barcode that is required for pickup.
There are four categories for UPO mail:
On-campus
The on-campus mail service is only available for University's official activities. Examples of inappropriate mail are: greeting cards, political literature, personal notes, chain letters, Mary Kay or Avon brochures or catalogs, and other material not involving official University business. These types of on-campus mail may not be deposited at the UPO or accepted by the University staff, unless it bears sufficient postage to be accepted by the USPS. Please use the faculty, staff, and student directory for the correct campus address. Campus mail should be placed in either an interdepartmental delivery envelope or in a campus-only #10 envelope. Campus mail can be delivered in a timely fashion if it is addressed properly. Please place accurate dates on all out going mail to the campus community. Mail that is not dated in a timely fashion may not be accepted for delivery by the UPO. On-campus residence hall mail is delivered to the Housing Office in Alumni Tower and the hall directors distribute to the student's mailboxes.
Off-Campus Metered Mail
Off-campus mail will not be metered unless a completed postage charge card is attached. All mail in University envelopes, cartons or other mailing containers must reflect the return address of the sender (office) on the exterior of the mailing piece. Postage meters and postage stamps purchased with University funds may not be used for the mailing of any material which is not official University business. Illegal use of postage meters is a violation of KRS 514.060 (theft of services) and illegal taking of University property (stamps, envelopes, etc.) is a violation of KRS 514.030. Both offenses, if the value is less than $100, are class A misdemeanors and carry penalties of 12 months imprisonment and/or a $500 fine.
Stamped Mail
Personal mail will only be accepted by UPO personnel if the appropriate amount of personal paid postage is appended.
Business Reply
Specially printed business reply cards and envelopes should be used by departments needing a prepaid reply from an addressee. When using the business reply, the University is required to pay postage only if the card or envelope is returned by the correspondent. Do not use envelopes with the permit imprint for a prepaid return envelope. Only business reply envelopes can be used for this purpose.
RESIDENCE HALL MAIL DELIVERY
Delivery of letters to University residence halls is the responsibility of the Housing office. Students living in campus residence halls pick up their packages at the campus post office. An email notification from postoffice@moreheadstate.edu is sent to the recipient when packages are ready for pick up. Parcels are held at the campus post office for one month before being returned to sender.
