MSU's pre-engineering program offers several options for starting your studies at MSU and finishing at an accredited engineering school. Depending on your choice, you can earn a bachelor's degree or dual degree from MSU and an accredited engineering school.
What You Can Do with a pre-Engineering Degree
Our program helps you get ready for engineering school by letting you complete part of your studies at MSU before transferring to an accredited engineering school. You’ll also build essential skills like talking and writing, working well with others, thinking critically, and being professional. If you want, you can continue your graduate school education.

Attend MSU for two years, take the required general education, chemistry, math, physics and engineering courses, and then transfer to an accredited institution for two years to obtain a bachelor's degree in engineering.
Attend MSU for three years, take the required general education, chemistry, math, physics and engineering courses, then transfer to an accredited institution for two years to obtain a bachelor's degree in engineering from the transfer institution and a bachelor's degree in physics from MSU.
