Leeann Akers, Ed.D.

Responsibilities

• Develops and oversees STEM+X programming 
• Oversees residential programs, Pre-Service teacher programs, STEM+X program data gathering and reporting process, STEM+X program expenditures and secures resources.  
• Acts as Media Liaison for the Center for STEM+eXcellence. 

Bio

Dr. Leeann Akers is the assistant director of the Center for STEM+eXcellence at Morehead State University. A three-time graduate of MSU, Leeann completed her doctor of education in 2022, her MA in Communication in 2007, and her BA in Theatre in 2006. She spent five years as the news director at Morehead State Public Radio, where she expanded the student work-study program while creating content for daily broadcasts. Her background includes managing a weekly newspaper, covering sports in three cities at once, musical theatre, and urban farming with her husband, two boys and spoiled cats.
