About Me

I have been a dedicated employee at the MSU Bookstore for 34 years. I started working at the University Bookstore as a work-study in the fall of 1991. I am a proud alumnus of Morehead State University with a BA in Communication/Theatre and a minor in Advertising and Public Relations. After graduation, I was offered the position of Merchandise Buyer. In 2002, I moved into the Merchandise Manager position, where I was the sole buyer for all non-text merchandise and designer of Morehead State custom apparel and non-collegiate custom lines. I was the primary customer service lead for the last 8 years before the transition. I served as a member of the KY Association of College Stores and the National Association of College Stores. My love of travel was filled with trade shows and presenting at several seminars. I served in this position until February of 2022.

In February of 2022, the University Bookstore transitioned to a Barnes and Noble College store. I feel very fortunate to have been one of the few offered a position with Barnes & Noble, allowing me to continue working at the bookstore. I was extremely nervous about the changes, having only ever worked for the University as a self-operated store, to the role I would have working for a corporation. The support provided was a great surprise. We now have a team in the background to help with any issues or crises that occur and experienced leadership that can help find the necessary solutions. So even though change was difficult, I have grown as a B&N employee in ways I would have never expected.

The transition was a great learning experience. And the role shift has taken a lot of work stress from my shoulders. I have more time for my creative outlets of costuming, quilting, and creating bridal accessories.  We have a great team here at 8452, and I enjoy and look forward to coming to work each day.
