Alireza Rahemi

About Me

Dr. Rahemi received his PhD in Horticulture and conducted part of his research at the University of Florida (2008-2009). His PhD thesis focused on the genetic diversity of wild almonds and related species by using molecular methods. Later, he researched wild grape species and their utilization as rootstock while serving as a Post-doctoral Research Associate at the University of Guelph, Canada (2011-2017). He also received a Post Graduate Certificate in Food Safety from Conestoga College, Canada (2018-2019). He then moved to a Post-doctoral Research Associate position at Virginia State University (2019-2023) and worked on physiological aspects of various horticultural/specialty crops. He started his Assistant Professor position at Morehead State University in 2023, where he teaches several horticulture/agriculture courses and researches horticultural crops.

Dr. Rahemi is interested in researching vegetables, herbs, flowers, and fruit crops. His research focuses on improving and developing horticultural crop production through innovative techniques and sustainable practices. He uses his background in production practices and genetics to select and enhance horticultural plants that are resilient to abiotic stresses and climate change.
