Spring 2021 Housing Information

COVID-19 Update

The Office of Student Housing continues to make residential adjustments for the ongoing public health emergency. As you navigate our residential spaces, please continue to wear a cloth facial covering (mask) when outside of your room, observe campus-wide mask and social distancing expectations, and pay attention to marked signage for occupancy, entry/exit, and various building changes. We have done remarkably well keeping our residential operation functional for the Fall, and now is no time to let up.

Healthy at MSU Website

As a reminder, your virtual home for COVID-19 information and resources for the campus can be found at the Healthy at MSU website, viewable at www.moreheadstate.edu/healthyatmsu. This website is a valuable resource for information, including the campus COVID hotline.

Residence Hall Visitation

In an effort to ensure the best chance for success for Spring 2021, and to limit the potential negative consequences of a COVID-19 outbreak on campus, all residence halls will have limited visitation at the beginning of the Spring 2021 semester. Similar to Fall semester, visitation will be limited to in-building only, meaning you can only visit indoors people and rooms in the hall in which you live. Hall-to-hall visitation and off campus visitors are expressly forbidden. Additionally, the number of visitors is restricted to one-half the occupancy of the room. A two-person room may have one visitor, a four-person room or apartment may have a maximum of two visitors. Whenever a non-resident of the room is present, masks must be worn by everyone.

Spring 2021 Move-In Process

Spring 2021 move in will be a bit different than years past, and in some respects similar to Fall 2020. All residents must schedule a time for their arrival in order to limit crowds and person-to-person interactions during their return. Arriving before your scheduled time is not allowed and may result in additional charges for improper check in or referral for student conduct sanctioning. Move-in assistance should be limited to one person (in addition to the student). As always, if you or any member of your party feels ill or is exhibiting symptoms of illness, do not move in. Contact the Office of Student Housing to reschedule.

There are some critical differences for those moving into a new room and those returning to their same room from the Fall.

New Room Arrival

For those residents who are new to campus and those who are changing rooms from the Fall and need to pick up keys to your space, your move in times will range from 9AM-12PM January 11 through January 15. You will need to observe the following directions for your move in:
  • Beginning December 16 at 12PM, students need to visit their Housing Self Service Portal. On the main page there will be a drop down to select your move in time. Select your time, hit confirm, and await an email confirmation (within 24 hours). Move in times must be selected by January 6 at 4:30PM.
  • When your move in time arrives, go to Alumni Tower and visit the Office of Student Housing to pick up keys, located on the ground floor of Alumni Tower under the pedestrian bridge.
  • If you do not have an Eagle Card, please visit the Eagle Card office on the ground floor of ADUC prior to your arrival so building access can be added. Eagle Card information can be found at www.moreheadstate.edu/eaglecard.
  • Your move in must be complete three hours after your scheduled time. (If your move in time is 10AM, your move in should be completed by 1PM)
  • After unloading your vehicle but before setting up your room, relocate your vehicle away from the residence halls to allow others the opportunity to check in and move in. You may park in the following lots after unloading:
    • Rocky Adkins Dining Commons Parking Garage
    • S lot behind Fields Hall
    • S lot behind Ginger Hall
    • US 60 Lot (either side)
    • S lot between Space Science and Educational Services
    • AZ lot behind BCM
    • 5th Street Gravel Lot
  • Failure to park in one of the above locations will result in your vehicle being ticketed and towed. Lots around residence halls return to normal operation Monday January 18 at 9PM.

Same Room Return

For those residents who are returning to the same room in spring that they occupied during the Fall, or those who already received keys for their new room, your move in times will range from 1PM-7PM January 11 through January 18.
  • When your move in time arrives, go to your assigned residence hall and begin your move in process.
  • Your move in must be complete three hours after your scheduled time. (If your move in time is 2PM, your move in should be completed by 5PM)
  • After unloading your vehicle, relocate your vehicle away from the residence halls to allow others the opportunity to check in and move in. You may park in the following lots after unloading:
