Morehead State Public Radio gets audio equipment upgrades

news-thumb-hallie-adams.webpMorehead State Public Radio (MSPR) recently installed two new audio control boards at the station, allowing student workers to learn to use the latest broadcast technology.

The upgrade replaced control boards that were over 20 years old and in failing condition. MSPR began raising funds to replace the boards in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic hampered efforts. In 2021, the boards were purchased with funds from the American Rescue Plan Act and the radio station's fund with the MSU Foundation.

The boards that were replaced were in the station's production and master control studios. The installation of the master control board was coordinated so there would be no broadcast interruptions.

"MSPR is very excited to finally have the necessary equipment to extend and improve WMKY's service to the region throughout eastern Kentucky," MSPR General Manager Paul Hitchcock said. "The installation of new equipment will replace equipment purchased more than 20 years ago, equipment which has served well beyond its intended use."

Serving more than 20 counties throughout eastern Kentucky, southern Ohio, and western West Virginia, Morehead State Public Radio (WMKY) broadcasts from the campus of Morehead State University at 90.3FM and online at
