Morehead State’s Dr. Steve Chen earns OVC Award

news-embed-steve-chen.webpDr. Steve Chen, professor of sport management at Morehead State, has received the Outstanding Faculty – Commitment to Student Success Award from the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC).

The OVC's Outstanding Faculty Commitment to Student Success Awards began in March 2023 to recognize outstanding faculty at each OVC member institution. Winners of the award are nominated by their institutions.

"I am certainly extremely happy and honored," Chen said of winning the award. "More importantly, I appreciate the many individuals who have helped me develop as a person and a teacher and allowed me to work with students. I also thank students for giving me their time and trust."

Chen was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He was a basketball coach for a few professional teams in Taiwan before attending UCLA, where he earned his bachelor's degree. Chen earned his master's degree at California State University, Fullerton, and his Doctor of Medical Science (DSM) in Sport Management from the U.S. Sports Academy. He has conducted research in sport marketing, sport sociology, diversity in sports, sport economics and more. He said he's happy to share his knowledge and experience with his students.
