Morehead State remembers French Professor Dr. Karen Taylor  

Karen J. TaylorMorehead State University mourns the loss of Associate Professor of French Dr. Karen Taylor, who passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025. She was 64.  

A native of England, Taylor came to Morehead State in 2000 and served more than 20 years as an assistant professor and associate professor. She taught French at all levels and English classes on Medieval Culture.  

Taylor's research interest was in the French Middle Ages, with a focus on feminist interpretations of the literature and culture of that period. She has several publications in her field. Taylor earned the Distinguished Teacher Award in 2016.  

During her time at MSU, she was also deeply involved in MSU's George M. Luckey, Jr. Academic Honors Program alongside her husband, MSU Honors Program Director Dr. Phil Krummrich. She taught honors program classes, edited the Kentucky Philological Review for years and led numerous students abroad with the Kentucky Institute for International Studies.  

Taylor is survived by her husband, her brother, Kevin, and her mother, Joan.  

A memorial and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
