MSU announces Presidential Community Engaged Eagles
Morehead State University has named nearly 250 students to the Spring 2025 Presidential Community Engaged Eagles list. This honor recognizes students with a strong and lasting commitment to serving others through community and civic engagement. These students have helped make a difference across the region while building essential skills for their future.
During the spring semester, students took part in many different service projects. These include Make an Impact Day, the Third Annual March to Service, and an alternative spring break experience collaborating with the Christian Appalachian Project.
Students worked with local schools, nonprofits, and other organizations to complete hands-on projects. These included helping at community events, leading activities with young students, educating the public on health issues, and advocating around critical social issues.
"Each student recognized through the Presidential Community Engaged Eagles list has demonstrated what it means to learn through service," said Andrew Sexton (Class of 2020, 2022), coordinator of service learning. "Their reflections speak to the personal growth, career readiness, and civic responsibility that emerge when students meaningfully engage with the communities they call home. They are leaders in the making, and our region is stronger because of their commitment."
To be named to the Presidential Community Engaged Eagles list, students must take part in a service project and write a reflection about what they learned. These reflections serve as a vital tool for helping students articulate the value of engaged learning to themselves and their future employers and communities.
