Sigma Phi Epsilon honors brothers at 55th celebration
The Kentucky Zeta chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon recently celebrated 55 years at Morehead State University. Brothers gathered on campus this spring to reconnect and celebrate the chapter's impact.
Nearly one hundred former and current members gathered to celebrate the weekend, which included a golf outing, campus tour, chapter meeting and reunion banquet.
“It was an amazing weekend,” said Mikayla Martin (Class of 2021), assistant director of advancement events. “Getting to assist with Greek reunions and celebrate their contributions to their organization is a highlight of my job, and it was an honor to celebrate Sig Ep.”
At the celebration, multiple brothers were recognized with esteemed honors.
Garrison Ratliff, a senior general business major from Morehead, was honored with the J. Edward Zollinger Outstanding Senior award. The award is presented to a senior from one of the national fraternities' twenty-two districts.
Voted on by chapters, counselors, and alumni volunteer corporations, the award honors a student who has shown outstanding scholastic achievement, campus leadership and community involvement.
Gary Adkins (Class of 1974) was honored nationally with an Exemplary Service Award. The award is given to brothers who have made a significant and lasting impact for the betterment of the fraternity for over 20 years. Adkins, a devoted volunteer with Sig Ep and many other organizations, has continued to serve his fraternity long after he graduated from MSU.
Jason Marion (Class of 2004, 2006) was honored by the chapter with the Order of the Ducal Crown, a recognition provided by the Alumni Volunteer Corporation (AVC). The award recognizes brothers who have diligently served the Kentucky Zeta Chapter as alumni volunteers and who selflessly demonstrate virtue in sharing time, talent, and treasure.
