MSU Regents Honor Community Members, Discuss Campus Projects
The Morehead State University Board of Regents held its quarterly meeting Friday, Aug. 8.
The board honored Richard “Fletch” Fletcher (Class of 1992, 2002), who recently retired after years of service with MSU Athletics, and Steven Middleton (Class of 2005, 2008), a senior instructor of media production in the Department of Communication, Media and Art & Design, for their contributions to the University.
A resolution was also presented to outgoing Regent Adam Hinton for his leadership and service. Student Regent Thomas Clem (senior sociology major from Louisville) and Regent Chris McClurg (Class of 1997) were sworn in as new regents.
During the meeting, University officials announced plans to request state funding for additional campus construction projects. Morehead State will present the plans to the Capital Planning Advisory Board, which provides funding recommendations to all branches of Kentucky state government. If approved, MSU intends to construct four new facilities across campus, with priority given to replacing Reed Hall.
The board also approved policy updates, including revisions to the Student Code of Conduct, the SGA Constitution & Bylaws, workplace policies and the Emergency Operations Plan. Reports were presented on employee health insurance, fundraising, performance funding and campus facilities planning.
