MSU faculty member returns to Duncan Recital Hall

After several years away from performing, Dr. Roma Prindle, professor of voice at Morehead State University, will return to the stage for a special concert titled “Sure on This Shining Night.”

The performance is Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. in Duncan Recital Hall, Baird Music Building. The event is open to the public.

Prindle, who stepped back from performing due to environmental vocal issues, has developed a new, distinctive style. The program features a mix of classical and contemporary works.Roma Prindle

“This might be the most unusual event to grace the Duncan Recital Hall stage," said Prindle.

The concert will feature Pianist James Sparks (Class of 2013) and Soprano Andrea Trusty (Class of 2004).

Sparks studied under the collaborative pianist Dalton Baldwin and serves as music director at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Charleston, West Virginia. Trusty, a former Metropolitan Opera National Council semi-finalist, is pursuing a Doctorate in Vocal Performance at the University of Kentucky.

A native of Harlan, Kentucky, Prindle studied at Transylvania University and the Hartt School of Music. Her career includes performances with Minnesota Opera, Connecticut Opera, Opera Roanoke, and collaborations with choral luminaries Robert Shaw and Dale Warland. She founded OperaWorks at MSU, the first vocal group at the University to tour internationally and has led numerous student performance programs abroad.
