MSU business students earn national honors for excellence
The Morehead State University Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society for top business students, has once again been recognized for excellence.
This fall, the chapter earned High Honors for the 2024-25 academic year. This is their fifth consecutive year receiving this distinction.
The award recognizes the chapter’s commitment to academic excellence, student support, and community engagement. Members of BGS, who represent the top 10% of students in the Department of Business Administration, exemplify leadership both in and outside the classroom.
The MSU BGS chapter earned the distinction for its service to the Elmer R. Smith College of Business & Technology and the Morehead community, including its volunteer initiatives and a book drive that collected children’s books for donation to two local elementary schools.
“I am very proud of our BGS members, as they have once again earned a prestigious distinction for their chapter activities,” said Dr. Christy L. Trent (Class of 2006), instructor of business communication and management/BGS faculty advisor. “This is the fifth consecutive year that the chapter has earned distinctions, and I have served as the advisor. These students are in the top 10% of their respective classes and regularly volunteer time to study with business students and volunteer during the annual regional high school FBLA competition.”
Through BGS, students gain opportunities to apply their academic knowledge through leadership, mentorship, and service. Skills that prepare them for success in the business world and beyond.
“Throughout my time this year serving as vice president and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, I have been proud of the way the organization has grown overall, not only in our achievements but also as a community,” said Alexa Utley (business administration senior from Henderson), BGS vice president. “We have been honored to receive High Honors during the 2024-25 school year and plan to continue working with the local community, the University, and our fellow students to improve our mission further and expand our connections.”
