Sigma Pi raises over $51k for future endowment
Alumni of the Delta Rho chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity at Morehead State University have successfully completed a fundraising campaign to establish a permanent scholarship endowment, raising more than $51,000 in support of future generations of brothers.
Led by a generous matching gift commitment from brother David “Beetle” Bailey (Class of 1980), the campaign goal of $50,000 was met in less than one year.
The chapter again upped the ante during Homecoming 2025. An additional $25,000 matching gift was announced at a chapter’s breakfast on campus. If another $25,000 is raised, this second matching gift will bring the fund total to over $100,000.
The scholarship will provide financial assistance to students who show a commitment to leadership, both within the chapter and the campus community. The endowment ensures that the chapter’s legacy of brotherhood and campus involvement will continue to make a lasting impact at Morehead State for years to come.
“This achievement reflects the deep commitment our alumni have to both the fraternity and the University,” said Daniel McGowan (Class of 2001), Delta Rho alumnus and current member of the MSU Foundation Board. “We’re proud to invest in the future of MSU and honor the traditions that shaped our college experience. And we aren’t done – we hope the fund will be valued at over $100,000 by this time next year.”
The scholarship is expected to begin awarding funds in the upcoming 2026-27 academic year.
