Morehead State celebrates graduates at Fall 2025 Commencement
Morehead State University honored more than 300 graduates at ceremonies on Dec. 13.
MSU recognized this incredible accomplishment surrounded by family, friends, loved ones, faculty, staff, students, and proud Eagle alumni. Morehead State President Dr. Jay Morgan conferred the degrees and offered congratulations to each student.
The ceremony honored graduates of the Caudill College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, the Elmer R. Smith College of Business & Technology, the College of Science & Engineering, and the Ernst & Sara Lane Volgenau College of Education.
Macie Vanover (Class of 2025) of Lexington was the commencement speaker representing the College of Science & Engineering. A transfer student from Eastern Kentucky University, Vanover was a Student Alumni Ambassador (serving as philanthropy chair). She was also a member of the Pre-PA (Physician Assistant) Club, where she served as president and social media chair. She gained experience for her future career by shadowing physician assistants and doctors in internal medicine, family medicine, emergency medicine and pediatrics. She also worked as a patient care associate at UK St. Claire, where she was assigned to multiple units, monitoring vital signs and assisting patients with daily tasks. Upon graduation, Vanover will attend the University of Kentucky Physician Assistant Studies Program, beginning in January 2026.
"Like many of you, when I arrived on campus, I was filled with a mix of excitement and nerves. I didn’t know what to expect, who I would meet, or what this chapter would hold,” Vanover said. “Now, as I prepare to leave, I find myself feeling a little sad; not because I’m unsure about what’s next but because of how meaningful this experience has been. MSU did not just give me a great education. It gave me friendships that I will cherish for life, mentors who believed in me and a sense of belonging I will never forget.”
The ceremonies included the commissioning of ROTC officers William Michael Cook (Class of 2025) from Paintsville, Tristan Matthew Robertson (Class of 2025) of Louisa, Mary Wilson (Class of 2025) of Garden Grove, California, and Nicholas Kent Whitaker (Class of 2025) of Madison, Indiana.
