MSU Foundation honors Blair Family Legacy
The Morehead State University Foundation is proud to announce the dedication of a newly named space in honor of the Blair family. The naming of the Blair Parking Lot recognizes the family’s decades-long commitment to strengthening the Morehead community and supporting the University’s mission.
This tribute celebrates the life and legacy of Paul W. Blair (Class of 1964), a distinguished attorney and civic leader whose unwavering dedication shaped the region for generations. Throughout his career, Blair served as the attorney and advisor to numerous community, business and civic organizations. His integrity, mentorship, and tireless advocacy left an indelible mark on the community he loved. He passed away last November at the age of 84.
Blair’s commitment to service extended beyond his professional achievements. Together with his wife of 55 years, Suanne Hower Blair, the Blair family championed initiatives that enriched the lives of countless residents and students. Their generosity and leadership reflect a deep belief in education, fairness and community progress.
Additionally, Paul's brother, Dr. Don Blair (Class of 1962), was a well-known and beloved physician in Morehead for nearly half a century. Dr. Blair's daughters, Jennifer Blair Anderson, and Lisa Blair also attended MSU. Jennifer attended MSU in the late 90s before her early acceptance to pharmacy school, along with her husband Dr. Joe Anderson (Class of 1998), who went on to become a veterinarian. Jennifer owns and operates Holbrook Drug, and Joe owns and operates Bath Veterinary Clinic. The couple's son, Dr. Ryan Anderson (Class of 2019), is also an MSU graduate. Dr. Blair's son, Judge Donald E. Blair, serves as the Chief District Judge for the 21st Judicial District.
“The Blair family’s impact on our community and our University is immeasurable,” said Dr. Jay Morgan, MSU president. “Paul, along with the entire Blair family, have been great friends and supporters, and we are honored to collaborate with the Foundation to dedicate a space that ensures the Blair family name remains a fixture along Main Street.”
The newly dedicated Blair Parking Lot is located where the Blair Building previously stood and served the community for many years. This was the home of Paul Blair’s law office, as well as the site of Dr. Donald Blair and Dr. Everett Blair’s medical practice. The Blair Parking Lot signage will serve as a reminder of the family’s legacy of service, mentorship, and civic responsibility.
