MSU announces $100 million fundraising campaign

For The Next Campaign LogoMorehead State University President Dr. Jay Morgan announced an ambitious plan and a fundraising initiative to grow the University’s fundraising efforts and endowment to $100 million by 2029.

This transformative initiative marks one of the most significant philanthropic efforts in the institution’s history and underscores MSU’s commitment to long-term financial strength, student success, and academic innovation.

At the Board of Regents meeting on Friday, Feb. 13, Morgan emphasized the vital role a strengthened endowment will play in advancing the University’s mission.

“Our endowment is an investment in people, our students, our faculty, and the communities we serve,” said Morgan. “Reaching a $100 million endowment will provide the stability and resources needed to ensure that MSU continues to deliver exceptional education and life-changing opportunities for generations to come.”

The campaign, themed “For the Next,” will focus on several institutional priorities, including:

  • Student scholarships
  • Academic program enhancement
  • Research and experiential learning opportunities

The campaign will be led by the Division of University Advancement in partnership with the MSU Foundation.

“Growing our endowment to $100 million is bold, but it is also achievable,” said Allison Caudill (Class of 2005, 2009), vice president for University Advancement and CEO of the MSU Foundation. “This effort will position MSU for financial resilience and ensure that our students have access to the resources and support they need to thrive.”

As part of the University’s ongoing campus revitalization efforts, MSU is also offering an array of named space opportunities for lead donors who wish to make a lasting mark on the institution.

These newly renovated and reimagined spaces, ranging from academic facilities and student-residence halls to athletic facilities and outdoor environments, provide donors with meaningful ways to honor individuals, families, or organizations while directly supporting the University’s long-term vision. These naming opportunities underscore MSU’s commitment to partnering with philanthropic leaders who want to shape the campus’s physical and educational landscape for generations to come.

Morehead State University invites alumni, donors, and friends to join in this historic effort to shape the future of the institution and help the next generation soar higher.
