Morehead State exhibition “Works in Progress” opens in gallery

The Morehead State University Golding-Yang Art Gallery has opened the Spring 2026 semester with “Works in Progress: MSU Sophomore Exhibition,” a showcase highlighting the creative development of emerging student artists.

The exhibition features work by 25 sophomore art & design students, many of whom are exhibiting in a professional gallery setting for the first time. Throughout the semester, students actively participate in the preparation, layout, and installation of their artwork, gaining hands-on experience in professional exhibition practices.

As part of the exhibition process, students will also take part in a formal review with the Art & Design faculty. During these sessions, students discuss their individual works, artistic influences, and long-term goals as they consider future careers in the arts. The exhibition serves as both a learning experience and a milestone in the students’ foundational studies.

“This exhibit allows the Golding-Yang Art Gallery and the Department of Communications, Media, Art & Design the honor of showcasing the amazing artwork of their underclassmen as they complete the foundations of their study of art,” said Gallery Director Mike Bowen.

“Works in Progress: MSU Sophomore Exhibition” is on display until Feb. 12, 2026. The public is invited to attend a reception celebrating the exhibition on Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Golding-Yang Art Gallery.

The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.
