Morehead State University to host 2026 Inscape Showcase

MSU will host the Inscape Fine Arts Showcase on Thursday, April 23, at 6 p.m. in Room 111 of the Claypool-Young Art Building. The reception celebrates the publication of the 2026 issue of Inscape, MSU’s juried literary and visual arts journal.

The showcase honors the visual artists, cover designers, and writers whose work was selected for inclusion in this year’s publication. During the event, guests will have the opportunity to view featured visual artwork, hear readings by published writers, and enjoy light refreshments. Contributors will be recognized, and award winners will be announced during the reception.

Prizes are offered in both visual art competitions, with a first-place prize of $100 for the selected cover design. A $100 award will be given for the best artwork submitted for the interior of the publication, with second-, third-, and honorable-mention prizes of $75, $50, and $25, respectively.

Students may submit poetry, fiction, or creative nonfiction for inclusion in the interior of the publication. Prizes of $100 for first place will be awarded in the poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction categories. You must be an MSU student to be awarded a literary prize, but submissions for inclusion in the magazine are open to non-students as well.

Inscape is an annual MSU publication with a long history of cutting-edge visual and literary art; the first issue was published in 1957. Media and genres range from prose, poetry, short stories, and long narratives to nonfiction and creative essays, as well as photography, printmaking, painting, design, drawing, digital art, mixed media, pottery, and sculpture.
