Morehead State Theatre presents 'She Kills Monsters' this month
Morehead State University's Department of Music & Theatre continues its theatrical season by going from a literary classic to a monster-slaying fantasy.
MSU will present Qui Nguyen's "She Kills Monsters" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, April 9-11 and April 16-18, and at 2 p.m. Sundays, April 12 and 19.
Directed by MSU Costume Supervisor and Instructor of Theatre Rebecca Eareheart (Class of 2020), “She Kills Monsters” follows Agnes Evans, a young woman grieving the loss of her younger sister, Tilly, until she discovers a fantasy world Tilly created through her 'Dungeons & Dragons' campaign notebook. Agnes is then pulled into a journey filled with action, humor, and heart as she uncovers hidden sides of her sister's life while confronting her own fears and regrets.
Featuring one of the largest casts of MSU performers and crew in recent years (25 total), the production blends comedy, high-energy fight sequences, and poignant storytelling. This production celebrates imagination, sisterhood and the power of storytelling to help us understand those we love.
“’She Kills Monsters’ is a beautiful story about sisterhood, lesbianism, and kicking monster butt in the '90s," said Ellie Tolentino, a sophomore from Mt. Sterling who portrays Agnes Evans in the production.
Tickets are cash or check only and are priced at $15 for adults and $10 for faculty, senior citizens, MSU Theatre alumni and non-MSU students. Admission is free for MSU students with a valid student ID and for patrons.
